Dr Ria Myung Seo Ko

Emergency Hospital in the Home (eHITH)

Dr Ria Myung Seo Ko, Infectious Diseases Physician with Emergency-HITH at Sydney Local Health District, presented the eHITH model of care and its application in acute community-based management of older patients. The presentation outlined the rationale for developing the service, its integration with Emergency Departments and community teams, and the role of point-of-care testing in enabling timely diagnosis and intervention at home. Dr Ko discussed outcomes to date, operational challenges, and future directions, and illustrated the model’s impact through clinical case examples.

The session highlighted how Emergency-HITH can support hospital avoidance strategies, improve patient flow, and deliver acute care in familiar home…
