1. Acceptance of Terms
By applying for, purchasing, or renewing membership with HITH Society Australasia (“the Society”), the applicant or member (“Member”) agrees to be legally bound by these Membership Terms & Conditions, together with the Society’s Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, Copyright Notice, and Disclaimer (collectively, “Governing Documents”).
If the Member does not agree to these Terms, membership must not be purchased or renewed.
Members may refer further to details of membership within the Constitution of the Society, with particular note to clauses 11 to 18 (inclusive).
2. Eligibility
Any person at least 18 years old who, or any incorporated body which, in the opinion of the Board supports the purposes and best interests of the company and demonstrates a commitment to improving the standards, safety, and quality of HITH can apply in writing and pay any joining fee to become a member care in Australia of the company.
3. Membership Term
Membership is valid for a period of twelve (12) months commencing on the date payment is successfully processed (“Membership Term”). Membership benefits apply only during an active Membership Term and cease upon expiry unless renewed.
4. Fees and Payment
The annual membership fee is $85 AUD unless otherwise determined by the Society. All fees are payable in Australian Dollars (AUD).
Payments are securely processed through Wix’s authorised payment providers (including Wix Payments or PayPal as applicable). The Society does not store or have access to full credit card details. Payment credentials for recurring billing are securely stored and managed by the relevant payment provider in accordance with PCI DSS standards.
Fees are non-refundable except as required under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights or remedies available under the ACL that cannot lawfully be excluded.
5. Automatic Renewal
Membership renews automatically on each anniversary of the initial join date unless cancelled prior to the renewal date. By completing the purchase process, the Member expressly authorises recurring annual charges to the nominated payment method.
Members may cancel automatic renewal at any time before the renewal date. The Society recommends cancellation at least 48 hours prior to renewal processing.
6. Cancellation
Members may cancel membership via their member dashboard or by written request to admin@hithsociety.org.au. Cancellation prevents future renewal charges but does not entitle the Member to a refund for the current Membership Term, except where required by law.
The Society reserves the right to suspend or terminate membership where a Member breaches these Terms or engages in conduct detrimental to the Society.
7. Member Conduct
Members must act in a professional, ethical, and respectful manner in all interactions associated with the Society. Members must not:
(a) upload or distribute unlawful, defamatory, misleading, or confidential material without proper consent;
(b) misuse Society resources;
(c) share login credentials; or
(d) engage in conduct that damages the Society’s reputation.
The Society may investigate alleged breaches and take appropriate action, including suspension or termination.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on the Society’s website and within member-only areas remains the property of the Society unless otherwise stated. Materials may be used solely for personal, non-commercial professional purposes.
Members who submit materials grant the Society a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, reproduce, and distribute such materials in connection with its activities.
9. Member Benefits
Membership benefits may include access to member-only content, newsletters, journal materials, discounted conference registration, eligibility for committee participation, and voting rights at the Annual General Meeting.
Membership does not guarantee appointment to committees, publication of submitted materials, or professional advancement.
Members rights, opportunities and responsibilities are detailed in clause 14 and 15 of the Society constitution.
10. Privacy and Data Protection
The Society collects and manages personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
Personal information may include name, contact details, professional credentials, and payment-related information. Payment transactions are processed securely through PayPal in compliance with PCI DSS standards. The Society does not store credit card details.
Members may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information by contacting admin@hithsociety.org.au.
The full Privacy Policy is available on the Society’s website and forms part of these Membership Terms & Conditions.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, the Society provides membership services and website content on an “as is” basis without warranties of any kind.
Nothing in these Terms excludes any guarantees, rights, or remedies to which a Member is entitled under the Australian Consumer Law.
Subject to the above, the Society is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from membership participation or use of Society resources.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. The parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria in relation to any dispute arising under these Terms.
13. Amendments
