About the event

Dr Michael Young

Funding a Contemporary Australian HITH Service

Dr Michael Young presented the fundamentals of funding arrangements that support the delivery of HITH care in Australia. He outlined current funding mechanisms, sustainability considerations, and the relationship between activity, coding, and service design. The session also included discussion on common challenges faced by services seeking to expand or redesign models of care and explored strategies to ensure value, efficiency, and patient-centred outcomes. A Q+A segment allowed participants to raise service-specific questions and share experiences.

Dr Young brought perspectives from more than a decade of involvement in HITH, including the establishment of the Townsville Hospital HITH service, his role with Hospital in Your Home, and ongoing governance and clinical leadership as a HITH Society Board member.
